German thrash cult EXUMER released their first new song in 23 years, titled "Waking the fire", featuring founding member Mem V. Stein on vocals. The song is taken from their new 2-track demo, which was partially recorded in Hawaii and Germany during the band's last tour earlier this year.Vocalist Mem V. Stein comments: " I tracked the vocals for "Waking the Fire", in Hawaii with Paul (guitars/vocals), last year and the entire band tracked the rest of the music in Germany during our "5 Nights of Fire" tour. This should give people an idea of how committed we are to the project and the logistical challenges involved with keeping the band going. Nevertheless, we find the results nothing short of amazing and the song's aggression and energy speaks for it self. At this point, we have written over half of the new album and I think we should be able to record the whole CD early next year. Right now, we will start looking for a recording or label deal and there are also concrete plans for a European tour next April/May, as well as festival appearances in summer 2010". The EXUMER live show on April 22, 2009, in Bochum/Germany will generate additional funds towards the Chris Witchhunter benefit concert on April 11, 2009. It is the first joint venture between Germany's thrash legends EXUMER and SODOM's management DEATH SQUAD PROMOTION. Mem V. Stein comments:” It’s a good feeling for us as a band that the first business transaction we have with our new management includes a non-for-profit component. We were quite disappointed when we had to initially turn down performing at the original Chris Witchhunter tribute show due to our own tour schedule. Now we can help out by donating some of the proceeds from our own show. After all, it does not happen often that everyone can actually come together to "do the right thing". We have finally gone “live” with the first official EXUMER web site and there is a lot to mention. First of all we would like to thank you for your endless support, faith and patience, it took a long time but we are here and we are here to STAY & WAKE THE FIRE! New Management: Germany's thrash cult EXUMER entered a cooperation with DEATH SQUAD PROMOTION, who also represent fellow German thrashers SODOM. All booking inquires should contact Death Squad Promotions at www.deathsquad.de Exumer's official MySpace site can be found at the following link: http://www.myspace.com/exumerwakingthefire Permanent line-up complete: J.P. Rapp is the final permanent addition to our line-up and completes the band’s roster. J.P. is a drum LEGEND. The first drummer in our neck of the woods who perfected the “thrash beat”, back in the 80s and now bombards EXUMER fans with his relentless drum assaults. J.P. is an accomplished drummer and drum teacher, who gives private drum lessons in order to devote his entire time to drumming. We are proud to have this extraordinary musician in our midst, ready to present the new and the old EXUMER material in the most intense fashion possible. EXUMER To Play First Post-Reunion Show At Germany's KEEP IT TRUE XII Festival - Apr. 4, 2008 German cult thrashers EXUMER will play their first post-reunion show at the Keep it True XII festival, which is scheduled to be held April 25-26, 2009, in Germany. The concert will mark the band's debut appearance with vocalists Mem V. Stein and Paul Arakaki performing together live on stage for the first time. EXUMER will play a full set featuring songs from the band's first two albums and new material. EXUMER is currently working on its official web site where additional live dates and new demo tracks will be posted. Commented Mem V. Stein (also of New York City thrashers SUN DESCENDS): "The reactions for the reunion had been fantastic and it appears that it was the right decision for us to reform the band. It is now up to us not to disappoint the fans who are waiting to see us live and hear the new material. We are forging ahead with the same conviction we had in the 1980s, and I can promise that the fans won't be let down. We will not in any way jeopardize the band's cult status and release new, sub par material that does not compare to the energy displayed on our recordings from the '80s or lacks the technical standards of today's playing/productions. EXUMER is planning on releasing a new studio album sometime in 2009. In addition, the band's first two LPs will be reissued. |

EXUMER Reunion Confirmed For 2009 - Mar. 3, 2008 Members of '80s German thrash metal cult EXUMER began negotiating a full-fledged reunion for 2009. The projected reunion includes a new album, re-releases of the band's two albums from the 1980s and a substantial tour. EXUMER vocalist Mem V. Stein of New York City thrashers SUN DESCENDS comments: "This reunion won't be like the one-off show we played at the Wacken Open Air in 2001. This time we will deliver the entire package and release a new, third EXUMER album. It's been close to 22 years since the second EXUMER release in 1987 and it seems that the band is still relevant, especially when you consider the new generation of thrash metal bands that quote EXUMER as a major influence of theirs. I will keep SUN DESCENDS alive and I'm not abandoning the project but most of 2009 will be dedicated to a new EXUMER album and it's promotion. We also have Paul Arakaki (guitars/bass) in the band who replaced me on the second EXUMER album and now lives in Hawaii. I frequently get emails from fans asking for a EXUMER reunion and I feel that the time is right to finally go ahead and make it a reality. We have never played live in North America and I believe that we owe it to the fans here in the States to see the band at least once with full-on live production. EXUMER has not yet decided with which record label to work with for the releases, but plans to enter the studio to record their new CD in 2009 |
